10.3.2 Wholegrain cereals and diabetes

Insulin is a hormone needed to remove glucose from bloodstream and deposit into cells.
In some people, cells become resistant to the effects of insulin.
These people are at risk of developing diabetes
Making cells more sensitive to the effects of insulin can help to reduce the risk of developing diabetes.
Since whole-grain cereals tend to be digested and absorbed more slowly they may contribute to insulin sensitivity
