15.2 Health benefits associated with honey

Honey and table sugar provide similar amounts of energy with little nutritional value.
Recent evidence has shown that honey contains
  ~ a number of biologically active chemicals
  ~ chemicals that appear to function as anti-oxidants and others as antibacterial agents.
This is not surprising given that bees collect nectar from a wide range of plants. Interestingly, commercial honey is often treated with heat to make it less solid and this process can diminish the level of biological activity found in honey.
