19.3 Health benefits associated with coffee

Weight loss
Caffeine has been shown to stimulate the release of fat from fat cells and so it may be useful in weight loss, although the effects are likely to be small.
Mood
Caffeine and other opium like substances found in coffee may improve mood and possibly reduce depression and anxiety. Caffeine is a mild stimulant and in the short -term can improve alertness and concentration
Cancer
Antioxidants found in coffee may protect the body's cells against oxidative damage which may protect against diseases like cancer
Asthma
Drinking coffee may help to moderate asthma attacks
Gallstone disease
A study in men found that those who drank coffee were less likely to develop gallstone disease
