Safety of Food Additives (b)

Food additives are not a problem for most people
they ensure foods are safe from growth of harmful bacteria

Of the 400 permitted additives in Australia, 50 have been implicated
to cause adverse reactions:

itchy skin rash
irritable bowel syndrome
asthma
migraine
respiratory problems
headache
irritability
hyperactivity.

Additives that may cause adverse reactions in sensitive people:

Artificial colours (102, 107, 110, 122, 123, 124, 127, 129, 133, 142, 151)
Benzoates (210-213
Nitrites (249-250)
Propionic acids (280-3)
Sorbates (200-203)
Sulphites (220-228)
Antioxidants (320, 321, 310-312)
Flavour enhancers (621-626)
