Frequently Asked Questions
Weight Control
Hi
I
hope you are able to offer me advice. I
put on a lot of weight over the years and
recently discovered I have an insulin intolerance.
I have been put on Glucophage, and am exercising
regularly as well as eating healthily. However,
the weight is not going.
Can
you offer any advice ? I am desperate to
lose the weight, but have become so dispondent
about it.
I
look forward to hearing from you.
Answer
Assess your diet using the HEC
pyramid (this provides about 2000kcal)
Also,
assess your diet using the HEC
food variety score
Calculate
your energy needs and fat intake using information
from the 12345+
Food Pyramid
Use
the information from these links to devise
your own food plan.
Please
remember that it is difficult to have an
adequate intake of most nutrients if you
consume less than 1200 calories per day.
Somewhere between 1200-1500kcal will
help you lose weight whilst ensuring an
adequate nutrient intake - energy restriction
must always be combined with increased physical
activity e.g. at least 30minutes of walking
daily to prevent loss of lean mass. Doing
some strength training will also help to
maintain lean (mainly muscle) mass.

our Physical
Activity Rating.
