Professor Mark Wahlqvist AO

Prof. Wahlqvist’s expertise and experience in the field of nutrition is particularly wide covering. He has expertise and experience in nutrition at the policy, regulatory, public health and clinical levels.
Amongst various roles, he is the Editor-in-Chief of the Asia Pacific Journal of Clinical Nutrition and President of the International Union of Nutrition Sciences 2001-2005. He has published some 18 books and about 500 peer-reviewed papers on food, nutrition and health. Over the past 24 years he has held full professorial appointments in both Human Nutrition and Internal Medicine. He is committed to innovative culturally and science-based approaches to the improvement of human health through nutritional and other lifestyle means in conjunction with national and international health care systems.
Dr. Antigone Kouris-Blazos

Dr Kouris-Blazos has been employed in the Faculty of Medicine, Monash University since 1987 to lecture and co-ordinate a nutrition course for medical students which was delivered online in 2000 and 2001, and to co-ordinate an international mortality follow-up study “Food Habits in later life” on 2000 elderly in 5 countries. In 1998-2001 she was Co-Director of both the International Health and Development Unit, and the Healthy Eating Information Web-Centre at Monash University. She is currently an Honorary Research Fellow with the Asia Pacific Health and Nutrition Centre, Monash Asia Institute, Monash University.
She has over 30 published papers in refereed journals, 7 consultancy reports for Australian/Victorian Government on diet-related disorders, healthy eating program interventions for prevention of obesity, healthy eating programs in schools, food and nutrient intakes of food insecure/socially disadvantaged groups, and 2 consultancy reports on food-based dietary guidelines for the World Health Organisation. She has also co-authored 10 chapters in a leading Australian nutrition text book “Food and Nutrition”, 3 chapters in encyclopaedias, and a chapter for a leading British textbook (ed. Gibney).
